The Summer Showdown Tournament replaces the National Baseball Festival and includes an adjustment on age grades competing, to align closer with Sport NZ’s Sport Pathways Framework and Balance is Better.

A National, club-based youth tournament for age grades 14U and 16U club teams to compete for a National Title in each grade.

5th - 8th February 2025 – Waitangi Weekend
Tauranga City Baseball Club, Carlton Park, Otumoetai, Tauranga
50% participation rule and Pitch Smart rules in play

Note: Wed 5^th February 2025 included as a half-day travel with potential for game play plus official tournament proceedings in the late afternoon and evening.

2025 Summer Showdown Pick Up Players & Draft

Pick-up players are included at the 2025 Summer Showdown tournament. Players without a club team to attend are welcome to register as a pick-up player to be drafted into the 2025 Summer Showdown tournament. Baseball NZ will manage the pick-up player register and player draft for both 16U & 14U grades.

All players MUST be registered as a pick-up player with Baseball NZ to be drafted. All clubs wishing to draft additional players to make up minimum or recommended roster numbers MUST also register with Baseball NZ to be able to participate in the player draft.
